What is An Adaptive Dance Class?
At Bloom Dance Studio, we believe there is a place for every child to experience the joy of dance. We love welcoming all children into our classrooms and are committed to helping each dancer succeed. While our traditional class structure works well for many students, we understand that some children may benefit from additional support or a different learning environment.
To meet those needs, we created Thrive, our Adaptive Dance Class. Thrive provides individualized, one-on-one support to help each dancer participate and grow at their own pace. Our program has welcomed dancers with Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a variety of other unique needs and abilities. Learn more about the class dynamic. >

Ages: 3 - 14 years (Co-ed)
When: Saturdays, 10:00 - 10:30am
Dates: June 13, 20, 27 and July 11, 18, 25
Where: Elkhorn Location
Cost: $119 total
WHO TEACHES THE ADAPTIVE CLASS?
Our Thrive Dance Class will be taught by one Bloom Instructor and will be assisted by volunteers who are current college students pursuing a degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or other similar fields of study.
These volunteers are background checked and will work one-on-one with your child to help them adapt the dance moves however is best for them.
If you have a child with special needs who would be interested in joining our Adaptive Dance Class, we would be so excited to have them!
WHAT WILL THE ADAPTIVE CLASS LOOK LIKE?
Like a typical dance class, everyone will sit in a circle to go over our Bloom rules, do introductions, stretch, and participate in some fun dance songs. Next, we will learn dance steps and work on fun dance routines to music.
During class, we also will practice listening to music and instructions, explore movement with props, and make friends with classmates.
Each of the activities in class will be adapted to each individual dancer and their unique abilities.

THRIVE CLASS ATTIRE
Thrive dancers may wear whatever they feel comfortable moving in. Some students choose leotards with tights, skirts, and ballet shoes, while others prefer athletic wear such as leggings and t-shirts. (We kindly ask all students to adhere to our studio-wide policy of no bare midriffs.)
THRIVE CLASS TRIAL
We offer one free trial class for first-time families to be able to gauge if this class will be a good fit for your student. We understand this may be a new environment for your student and we want to give families an opportunity to see if their student will “thrive” before committing to the entire session.
