Everything You Need to Know for a Successful Season

A new dance season is here! Here’s a quick guide to help your family feel prepared for the first day and throughout the 2026–2027 Season. Click below to jump to each section:

BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS

1. Check the Dress Code

Make sure your dancer has the correct attire and shoes for their classes.

View the full dress code: danceatbloom.com/dress-code

Don’t have everything yet? No problem! We allow a two-week grace period before fully enforcing the dress code.

2. Label Everything

Dance shoes and bags can look very similar. Label your dancer’s shoes, dance bag, and other belongings to help prevent mix-ups.

Tip: Label shoes on the inside rather than on the soles.

3. Use the Bathroom Before Class

For younger dancers especially, we recommend using the restroom before putting on a leotard and tights.

ON YOUR FIRST DAY

1. Arrive a Few Minutes Early

Give yourself enough time to park, get settled, find your studio room, and get ready for class.

2. Help Your Dancer Get Settled

For the first two weeks, parents of dancers 10 and younger should accompany their dancer into the building and to their studio door.

If your dancer has back-to-back classes, plan to stay during the first week or two to help with the transition between classes. After that, our Studio Hosts can help dancers move between classes.

3. Find Your Studio Room

Every studio room has a sign displaying the class schedule. If you’re unsure where to go, just ask a Studio Host!

4. Bring Only What You Need

Dancers should bring their dance bag, additional dance shoes, and a covered water bottle into the studio.

Keep other belongings neatly under a seat, with a parent, or in the designated storage areas at Oakview. Please keep hallways and lobby seating clear.

5. Know Our Classroom Expectations

We want every dancer to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn!

Seedlings, Sprouts, Petals & Violets classes:

  • Be kind.

  • Be a good listener.

  • Do your best.

  • Have fun!

Rosettes, Irises, Lilies & Bouquets classes:

  • I am a problem solver.

  • I will work hard for a better tomorrow.

  • I have respect for the art of dance, the dance classroom, and my dance teacher.

  • I dance because it brings me joy!

THROUGHOUT THE SEASON

1. Give New Classes Time

It can take a little time for dancers to adjust to a new class or teacher. We recommend attending your classes consistently for the first month before deciding whether a change is needed.

2. Watch for Monthly Updates

Bloom sends a newsletter at the beginning of each month with important dates, reminders, and upcoming events. Keep an eye on your email so you don’t miss anything!

3. Sign Up for Text Alerts

Get important reminders, weather updates, and timely announcements sent straight to your phone. Opt-in to texts from Bloom through your Parent Portal.

4. Use Your Parent Portal

Your Parent Portal is your go-to resource for:

  • Viewing your dancer’s schedule

  • Managing your payment method

  • Reporting absences

  • Confirming your dancer’s emergency contact

  • Viewing recital information

  • Registering for classes

A Note for Preschool Families

Preschool dance is about more than learning dance steps. We help young dancers build coordination, listening skills, musical awareness, imagination, and confidence while becoming comfortable in the classroom.

For a successful preschool experience, dancers should be able to:

  • Follow instructions

  • Wait their turn to talk

  • Separate from their parent or caregiver

We are excited to see your young dancer succeed!
